Last year, the rights holders of the Friday the 13th franchise, Horror Inc., launched the Jason Universe. This initiative promises to bring new Friday the 13th experiences across various platforms. We've already seen a short film, Sweet Revenge, and a prequel series, Crystal Lake, is in the works with A24 and Peacock. Plus, a new feature film and a video game are actively being developed. The creators have also hinted at Jason's return in 'unexpected ways.'
One of those unexpected ways? His inclusion in the first-person-shooter games Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone as part of 'The Haunting' event. But the surprises don't stop there! And this is the part most people miss... Jason will also be joining Fortnite this month!
While it might not be entirely unexpected, considering the buzz from fans, Jason will be dropping into Fortnite on October 17th. You can expect the Jason outfit, exclusive emotes, and more. He'll even be a boss enemy, hunting players with low health and rewarding those who defeat him with powerful loot, including a mythic weapon. For those feeling competitive, the Jason Haunted Cup tournament on October 16th offers early access to the Jason outfit for top-performing teams.
Jason's arrival is part of the Fortnitemares event, which also features other horror icons like Wednesday Addams, Ghostface, The Grabber, Art the Clown, an Alien: Earth xenomorph, and the Scooby-Doo gang.
Robbie Barsamian, Executive Vice President of Horror, Inc., stated that they heard the fans' requests and are delivering Jason to the gaming world. Sheri Conn, Chief Marketing Officer of Horror, Inc., added that it's a 'killer crossover' and a chance to see Jason unleashed in new ways. Marc Toberoff, on behalf of Friday 13th LLC, highlighted Jason's adaptability and enduring legacy.
