Ryan Moore ruled out of Saturday rides at the Curragh through injury (2025)

Ryan Moore will not ride on Saturday after he was stood down from his rides at the Curragh because of injury.

He was reported sore by the stewards and misses five rides, including the odds-on Mission Central in the Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes (2.52).

Moore also misses Hawk Mountain (1.45), Sugar Island (2.20) and Easy Mover (3.27) with Wayne Lordan picking up the rides.

He had also been due to partner Godwinson in the Irish Cambridgeshire (4.37), with Danny Tudhope drafted in as a replacement.

Aidan O'Brien's number one jockey has not ridden since Deauville on Sunday, when narrowly beaten on Gstaad in the Group 1 Prix Morny.

Sandown card hit by 20 non-runners after ground eases to soft

There are 20 non-runners because of the going at Sandown for its headline Saturday card, with the ground soft at the Surrey track.

Conditions have changed since declarations on Thursday with 18mm of rain hitting the track on Friday, but it was dry overnight and no further showers are expected until after racing.

Publish, the hot favourite for the feature BetMGM Solario Stakes (3.35), was withdrawn by John and Thady Gosden on Friday night.

He is the only absentee in the race while Cathedral is out of the BetMGM Atalanta Stakes (2.25), the other Group 3 contest on the card.

Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: "As expected we've had a bright, dry and sunny start. It's been dry since about 7pm but we had a total of 18mm of rain on Friday. There's rain forecast from the west but it's not forecast until late afternoon, when racing might be finished.

"I'm calling the ground soft but on the round course we drop on to a fresh inner strip and that does introduce some bits of good to soft ground.

"The non-runners are no surprise really as they declared on good ground with the forecast of rain. A lot of them either did or did not want the rain and we very much got the top end of the forecast so it was inevitable."

The ground is good to firm, good in places at Beverley for its fixture, headlined by the William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (2.05).

It is good, good to firm in places at Chester, which also features on Saturday's ITV coverage.

A Bit Of Spirit supported in Solario

Punters are taking on Saturday's big contenders from Godolphin and Wathnan with the Clive Cox-trained A Bit Of Spirit in the BetMGM Solario Stakes (3.35).

Paul and Clare Rooney's two-year-old shortened to 3-1 (from 11-2) on Saturday morning and is the most experienced runner in the line-up with four starts.

He has produced back-to-back seconds in Listed company and is favoured over Pacific Avenue, who is 2-1, and the 5-2 Humidity.

Cox is also represented in the William Hill Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (2.05) with two runners but the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Adrestia has been attracting support, shortening to 4-1 (from 5).
